Deer Hunting

New Moon Lodge is situated on a 4 1/2 acre island surrounded by the Aulneau Peninsula and the five largest islands on Lake of the Woods. We cater to both rifle hunts on the islands, and black powder hunts on the Peninsula. The Aulneau is a huge tract of land - 20 miles x 10 miles - where deer hunting is restricted to primitive weapons only. Because of its size and the restrictions, the deer on the peninsula see very low hunting pressure and have ample opportunity to grow undisturbed into the big-bodied, full-antlered trophies you are looking for.

Deer Hunts

To keep this advantage of low pressure and to make sure we can provide you with high quality service for a high quality hunt, we only take 4 deer hunters per week, even though our resort can accommodate up to 28 people. The Moen family has been in the resort/hospitality business for 53 years, with many guests who have been visiting us for 20+ years. Hunting and fishing is our business.

All of our stands are 2-person size for your safety and comfort.
Portable LP heaters are available upon request

Whitetail Deer Hunting Packages!

Our whitetail deer hunting package is an all inclusive 7 night/6 day hunt. This is a serious trophy-style hunt, so be prepared for the long duration - up to 12 hours.

Your deer hunting day starts out with a hearty pre-dawn breakfast. Then by 6 am you will head out with your guide by boat. He will escort you directly to your baited ladder stand. A bag lunch and all amenities are provided in the stand. At set times during the day your guide will check in with you by radio, and at dusk, will pick you up and take you back to the resort for a delicious home-cooked meal. If you bag your deer early in the week, your guide is available for fishing or duck hunting if you so wish.
